One of the quickest ways to create suffering in your business is to turn a desire into a requirement.
It usually happens without you realizing it.
Let’s say someone reaches out and asks about working with you. So, you send them the details and a booking link to have a conversation via Zoom.
They seemed excited. Then… nothing.
A day goes by. Then three. Then a week.
WTH! Suddenly you’re replaying the email exchange in your head.
Maybe I said too much or acted overeager. Maybe they found someone better.
Meanwhile, this person is probably just busy and forgot, but you’ve already built an entire story around why they’re AWOL.
Nothing terrible has happened. You still have clients and opportunities in front of you.
You still have time.
Yet your brain already wrote a script that reads like a disaster movie.
You begin considering things you normally wouldn’t. (Like, lowering your fees. Gasp!)
You start taking on clients who aren’t a fit and creating things you don’t actually want to create.
Working harder instead of thinking bigger.
Noooooo.
Hit the PAUSE button.
Notice what’s happening in your body.
Maybe you feel anxiety in your solar plexus. You try to control the outcome. You feel a sense of urgency.
You’ve shifted from wanting something to needing it.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting more clients, prosperity or your next idea to take off.
But the second you decide you need it in order to feel secure, worthy, successful, or okay… you’re doomed.
You’ve started making business decisions from a place of scarcity. And the only thing you’ll attract from that is MORE scarcity.
This is a very expensive mistake. Each fear-driven choice repels clients and money… the very thing you want!
And what does fear do? It lies to you.
It convinces very smart entrepreneurs to undercharge, give clients time-intensive bonuses they’ll regret, and settle for less than what they want.
I’ve found that the most in-demand people aren’t necessarily the most talented. They’re just not desperate.
They’re super fired up about their mission and put their energy into what’s exciting in their business.
They don’t believe their future depends on any one client, opportunity, conversation, or month.
That level of trust creates a completely different business experience. They’re not walking on eggshells to make everything work out perfectly.
They know who they are is enough. They know their offers are valuable. They expect clients to buy.
They’ve created space for prosperity to show up.
The next time you catch yourself attached to an outcome, ask yourself:
Am I wanting this…
… or have I convinced myself I need it?
Remember that one client, one post, one launch, or one week does not determine your future.
The entrepreneurs who become in-demand know this.
That’s why they want wonderful things… without needing them.
