Routine…Good or Bad?

RoutineGǪGood or BadI can’t function without routine. Okay, so that’s a bit dramatic. But I truly am not operating at my best when I roll out of bed and just haphazardly start taking action. A successful routine around family and work is a setup for peace and ultimately more success in your business. I have different routines for different days of the week because of the way I’ve designed my office hours and who is taking care of my children and where they are being watched. But in general, workdays look like this: Nurse Baby Shower Set intentions about what a good day it will be Dress kids Breakfast Make Coffee Prep kids if they’re going to my mom’s Write down six most important tasks of day Check email Coach Clients Rampage of Appreciation to accountability partner Connect with my Divine Guidance Take several 90 second breaks to be present in the moment (no particular focus) Spend 1-2 hours on projects for business Yoga Be with Kids Go to park Errands Dinner Read story to Lucky, tuck him in Rock/walk baby to sleep while watching DVR of my fav programs Read Lights out, review day and set intentions for my future & a good night of sleep My routine keeps me sane, organized and provides peace so I can live more joyfully. Do I go off my routine? Of course! But when I do, I make sure that I’m setting myself up to win both emotionally and physically. Is there room for spontaneity? Hell, YES! But this routine provides the grounding necessary to have more fun, take time off from my business and allows me the mindset to think BIGGER. When does a routine NOT serve you? When it’s not designed specifically to set you up for winning…now and into the future. Maybe you have a routine that you just sort of fell into. It may feel comforting but it doesn’t prepare you to be on time, be organized or it keeps you small. A routine that keeps you small means it doesn’t actually move you into your power. Your routine needs to serve you physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally. Ask yourself: Am I setting myself up for enough rest? Do I take care of my health? Am I eating at a time that feels relaxing? Do I like what I eat? Is there time for me to dream big? Take action to move toward the dreams? Do I have balance in my business and my personal life? Do I have regrets about what I don’t do? Is there time for me to work on the business in an inspiring way? Do I have a dose of fun each day? Do I feel rushed or flow from one thing to the next easily? It’s funny how the simpler things in life are the ones that you may have the most trouble nailing down. A routine can either make or break your business. Which in turn impacts your profits. Which in turn impacts your well-being. Maybe if I tell you that having a great routine will be your key to wealth you’ll pay more attention to it. My most successful clients work on their routines in our coaching sessions often. The clients who struggle the most are the ones who have a hard time sticking to a routine that works. They let life drag them around like an abusive pet owner. As life changes, your routine needs to meet the needs you have now. Start with this basic thing and life will be very good to you. Very good. In what ways is your routine serving you?
