Get Out of Your Box to Attract Ideal Customers

If you’re a business growth junkie, you’ve heard a million times that you have to know your target market. Most companies can spit out a profile of their ideal customer but nothing about it feels personal.

General knowledge of your market isn’t enough.

You’ve got to get intimate with them. You have to mentally and emotionally ‘get into’ their business. And once you know what keeps them up at night and puts a smile on their face, you need to find out even more.

How do they like their message delivered? Fast, fun or detailed? How far can you take your humor? How much information can you give them without throwing them into overwhelm? Do they like to be romanced or do they like it straight?

Once you know them as well as your family, then you can take it one step further.

Think about where you can reach these people in their day-to-day lives. And who can you partner with to reach them?How can you connect with them in an authentic way, where they feel your presence even if you say only a few words?

One of my favorite business events of the year is a JV Summit. It was designed to connect experts in my industry to create joint ventures together. It’s now one of the best masterminding opportunities of the year for me. One of the reasons I get so many new business growth ideas is because I’m forced to think about how my business could serve the other experts’ businesses. And when I learn about their services and products and I like them, I search my brain for how it could benefit my customers.

High Paying Client Attraction Made EasyMany entrepreneurs dream of doing what they love and being highly paid for it. Not me. I was so off-my-rocker excited about the process of coaching that I left my first coach’s training session and went directly to educating people on the power of coaching. I probably seemed like a newbie network marketer who just wanted to enroll everyone into their new business.

The money part came later for me. I soon had more clients than I could keep straight and I knew something needed to shift about my business model. No sooner after that thought, a vision I had in coach training came back to nag me.

In my mind’s eye, I saw myself working with no more than ten one-on-one clients at a time and charging them three times my current fee. My desire for an increased fee was so that I could spend more time with each person, give high-level customer service and not feel like I was working like a dog.

The Biggest Mistake Business Owners MakeOne of the first things you are told as a business owner is that you must have a business plan. I agree. I’m a fan of long-term and right now plans. But that doesn’t guarantee you profits or growth. Many people file that puppy in a drawer or stash it in the depths of their computer. Then it’s out of their mind until January 1 of the following year.

If the plan doesn’t get you immediately buzzing with energy and ready to get into inspired action then it’s not a good plan.

Now, I love to watch business owners get fired up about their projects and planning. But here is where they fall down, they think productivity is the way to make a successful business happen. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Kicking butt on your plan will probably yield you some nice accomplishments. But at the end of the year, you may only be a little richer and not much happier or free.

It Takes More Than Marketing to Attract Big Bucks

IIt Takes More Than Marketing to Attract Big Bucks used to HATE marketing. In fact, I used to use four letter words in front of the word “marketing” when I thought about doing it. I just wanted coaching clients, why did I have to do this torturous act? So, I stopped marketing. My joy raised and my stress went down, down, down.

My epiphany came when my good friend, Kathy Fettke, did a year-end completion coaching process with me and I declared that I was giving up marketing for good. Phew! What a relief. I felt so free. And then I began to see the light.

It was good for my business to be out in the world and seen by new market segments. Everyone on the planet could value from working with a coach, right?! NOT! I began seeing that I had to get out there and give people an experience of what I do and how their lives could be impacted by my tools, mentoring and coaching. That sounded fun. And it was.

What I figured out is that I had to see myself as an expert in my field and share my knowledge. I did it in ways that I enjoyed. Was I marketing? More than ever! That’s what was so funny. Here I was proclaiming my freedom from marketing and yet I was interviewed on radio and television spouting my advice and plugging my website and services. I began writing an ezine every week, not just once a month whenever I got around to it. And now I have a very detailed marketing calendar for the year and I get off on creating it!

Where does this new relationship with marketing come from? I use inspiration and intention to make it effective. People actually email me with praise for my “marketing” emails. I love it! I pour my heart into every article, email, blog, Tweet, FaceBook post and free cd I send. I do each thing when I feel inspired. If I don’t enjoy a marketing strategy, it doesn’t happen. I don’t care if every colleague I have uses a specific strategy and gets rockstar results, if I’m not connected to the process from my heart, it won’t yield results.

When I send out a free cd, I see the action as a minimum of $10,000 in my pocket. I intend that it will inspire my ideal clients to come forth, when they’re ready, and buy a product or service from me. I’m committed to delivering the goods in excellence so they’ll become lifetime raving fans.

Marketing is an action. Action doesn’t create a result. It’s all about what is driving the action. You need to be fully into it before, during and after the action for it to create the impact that you want. And once people start knocking on your door, you’ve got to educate them on their next step, how to best utilize what you offer and who is your ideal client or customer. They have to easily know if you’re a HELL YES decision for them.

Once you’re consistent and happy with your intentional marketing, you have to be so sure of yourself that you never get attached to the who, what, when and how. Yes, you can be intentional about those things, but unattached. You have to be calm and confident when you launch a rockin’ campaign or have “the talk” with the decision maker and they don’t jump immediately into bed with you.

Your marketing results can always be charted by what feelings you have going on behind the scenes. If you have stress about the timing, are pushing for dollars in your pocket right now or are just going through the emotions, you’re marketing impact will reflect that.

Attraction and Business ResultsI believe anything is possible in business. I believe that you can create gargantuan results without a whole lot of knowledge about the area you wish to experience success in. I believe that you can turn a struggling business into a very profitable business in less than a year.

Someone else told me these things and I believed it. Then I experienced all of the above and it took my beliefs about what is possible in my business into an entirely new realm.

I also did the same turnaround with my health. This gave me more evidence that what I think about is the ONLY thing that gives me results in life. Whenever you can see the positive impact of your thoughts, it boosts your sense of control about all of your desired outcomes.

It is my secret weapon in business.

I’ve been talking about the Law of Attraction for over a decade. I’ve coached enough people who “say” they are using attraction principles to know that I need to explain a bit more to squeeze the most out of their efforts.

Yes, whatever you give your attention to is what you will create more of. That’s law of Attraction at a very basic level and not really enough information to get those high-octane results on a consistent basis.

More of the nitty gritty of attraction in business…

  1. You have to truly believe that thoughts create every piece of your reality. Every client, every income increase or decrease, and every person that supports your business as a vendor, employee or contractor is a direct result of your beliefs and focus.
  2. Know the essence (the qualities) of your desired outcome and make a decision that you will get it.
  3. Course correct when you notice you are spending more time on your problem or lack of progress than the desired outcome.
  4. Give yourself some time to see the magical manifestations. Getting ticked off about the lack of evidence of your progress will only slow down the process.
  5. Practice. Practice. You must train your brain that results are a direct reflection of how you think. Stop running around like a chicken with its head cut off aimlessly taking action. Course correct as many times as it takes.
  6. Make space for peace and fun. Without these two things, you will be slow to see results in your business and overwhelm will consume you.
  7. Take action and implement new business strategies only when you feel very sure that it is the ideal action and strategy for you.
  8. Don’t worry about what other people think or if they are doing better than you. You don’t need to do all that the experts are saying in order to be a success. Mind your OWN business.
  9. You have an Inner Business Expert. Listen to the voice calling out inside of you. You are being given direct guidance all the time. It’s your job to trust that information.
  10. Continually focus on what you are doing well and acknowledge any progress that you are making. Focusing on progress will attract more progress. Pretty soon there will be an avalanche of evidence that you are a positive force to reckon with!
  11. Inspiration is everything in business. If an idea falls flat or something feels hard…STOP! Regroup, connect to your guidance and wait for a new way of moving forward that feels like a set up for winning with ease.

Of course, there are more nuances to attract business goals in a way that is fun, easy and joy-filled. Master the above and you’ll definitely see an increase in productivity, profits, ease and truly enjoy any time you spend in your biz.
